THE MATCH PROGRAMME The programme has changed size this season reverting back to the more usual B5 size from previous season's large A4 format. Cost of the programme remained the same as last year at £2 but the number of pages (40) has been reduced to 32. It was available in the usual numbers and could be bought right up to the kick off outside the ground. For the first time I noticed a computer barcode on a programme and this one is on the front cover. No rain to spoil the condition of the programmes sold. Programme did not sell out. Cost £2.00. The programme (like many others in the SPL) has far too many adverts (I counted 23 in 32 pages, 4 on the front cover) and there is very little of interest to read. There is an obvious hankering to get back to the 90's as the few articles on offer suggest. Role out Souness, Patsy's burd, Jabba Gascoigne, the 'high' scoring Nigel Spackman etc. Although the cover design is extremely good, the content has not improved on last year's offering and we don't think that it's destined to be a winner of the Programme of the Year Award. |
