THE MATCH PROGRAMME

Portsmouth produced the programme above for their Fratton Park friendly against Celtic. The programme, named Pompey Blue, has forty A5 full-colour pages, cost £2 and is a super production from the Pompey programme team - Matt Woolway: editor, Jason Stone: designer, Cedar: printer.

More on this programme later.

They said it in this issue........

"a warm welcome to Celtic who come south of the border, and will, without a doubt bring their fantastic and fanatical following to add to the colour of the night"

Harry Redknapp, Manager of Portsmouth F.C.

Click here to visit the Portsmouth FC Web site. Unlike the Celtic Web site, you don't have to 'sign-up' for the Pompey Web site before you are allowed to view all of the pages. You probably already know this but the reason companies like Celtic do this is so that they can add your details to a database and target you with useless and infuriating junk mail.

One other interesting point to note about this match was that for the first time ever at a Celtic game a female linesman eh lineswoman eh person ran the line - Wendy Toms.

Below is the match programme from a previous Portsmouth vs Celtic friendly match played in 1976. The match was won 6-1 by Celtic before 9,279 fans. The gate receipts for that day went towards saving the club due to debts that were owed by Portmouth. Pictured on the front cover of the 1976 programme (which could be mistaken for a Celtic home programme) is the one-and-only King Kenny.
