MATCH PROGRAMME In September 2004 a pirate programme appeared for this match with claims that it was on sale at the match. I was at the match in Kaunas. I arrived at the ground at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and stayed until the match started. I walked all around the stadium and the town looking for memorabilia. At half-time, I walked around the entire inside of the stadium and then got a pass-out to do the same outside the stadium without seeing any other programmes for sale. It is 100% certain that this pirate was NOT on sale at the match. If it had been, I would have been certain to get one.

Before the match kicked off, there was a moment's silence for Audrius Slekys, the Kaunas striker who was killed in a car crash at the weekend previous to the match. In the 76th minute Henrik Larsson limped off the field as joint top scorer ever in Europe for a single British club. His goal in the thirteenth minute took his tally to 30 goals equaling Liverpool's living legend Ian Rush and Leeds United's 70's goal hero Peter Lorimer. Celtic finished the match with ten men. |
