UMBRO GALWAY CUP TOURNAMENT PROGRAMME The Umbro Galway Cup, is first major underage international soccer tournament in the republic of Ireland and it takes place at the new €6 million facility at Drom Soccer Park in Galway, home of Salthill Devon FC. The young Celts played in the opening game of the Finches Elite Under 15's section against Ireland’s emerging young international talent. The showpiece game was played at Terryland Park on Monday 8th August with an 8pm kick-off. Celtic centre half Billy Guventar scored the first from a corner by Greg Wild, Michael Grain scored the second from close in and Liam Fagan rounded off the scoring with a fine shot from inside the box to give the young Hoops a 3-0 win. The Celtic Boys were in a group along with the FAI Development Team, Calgary Foothills FC, Preston North End FC, FC Yarnton, the Southeast Development Team, and Bohemians FC. The Celtic boys team lost in the final 1-2 to The FA of Ireland's developement squad after extra time. Michael Graham received the overall top scorer award for the tourney. |
