THE
ULTIMATE TESTIMONIAL
GEORGE McCLUSKEY
10 May 2008
CELTIC PARK, GLASGOW
|
George McCluskey was a centre-forward for Celtic between 1974 and 1983. He made his debut as an eighteen year old against FC Valur of Iceland in October 1 1975 and played 161 times for Celtic scoring 83 goals (5 in Europe). He scored many times for Celtic but is best remembered for his winning goal in the 1980 Scottish Cup Final against the Forces of Darkness that made the Rangers fans start the riot that ended drinking at the fitba and winning teams doing a lap of honour at Hampden. George also scored in another historic game for Celtic in 1979 when ten men won the league and the rearangers were beaten 4-2. A talented centre-forward with flair and great skill, his scoring record of better than a goal in every two games speaks for itself about McCluskey's place as a Celtic great. God bless George and thanks for the memories. |
