John Clark on the cover of the programme to mark his 50th season since joining Celtic in October 1958. He made 316 appearances for Celtic in 13 years as a player and was, of course, a member of the famous Lisbon Lions team that won the European Cup in 1967. He left to join Morton in June 1971 but returned to Paradise 2 years later as a coach. After a period as assistant manager at Celtic (1978 - 1983) he left to become manager at Cowdenbeath (March 84 - December 85), Stranraer for a short time, Clyde (1986 - 1992) and Shotts Bon Accord before returning to Celtic as kit manager in 1997. Like all of the Lisbon Lions, he had few caps for Scotland playing only 5 times. He won 3 League Championships, 3 Scottish Cups and 4 League Cup medals with the hOOps.

Samaras, Vennegoor of Hesselink and Killen all out injured so Cillian Sheridan made his starting debut and scored Celtic's second goal. Derek Riordan made his first appearance against Celtic since re-joining Hibs.
