Manager: Jimmy MCGRORY (1945 - March 1965)

 

Jock STEIN took over as manager in March 1965.Stein remained Celtic manager until 1978 when he was replaced by Billy McNeill. Stein became the most successful Scottish manager ever winning 10 League Championships, 8 Scottish Cups, 6 League Cups and the European Cup in 1967. He also won the Scottish Cup as manager of Dunfermline in 1961, before managing Celtic.

Jock Stein is announced as Manager of Celtic the day after this match. He is only the 4th Celtic Manager since their formation in 1888 and takes over from Jimmy McGrory, Celtic's Manager since 1945. During his time as Manager Celtic won 1 League Championship (1953/54), two Scottish Cups (1951 and 1954), two League Cups (1956 and 1957), the St Mungo's Cup (1951) and the Coronation Cup (1953).
