Four days after this match Paul Wilson was sold to Motherwell. Davie Provan arrived from Kilmarnock for a Scottish record fee of £120,000 on Sept 18. He went on to win 4 League titles, 2 Scottish Cups and a League Cup with Celtic in the next 7 seasons. He was the Scottish Professional Football Association's Player of the year for 1979/80. He won 10 caps for Scotland and was a member of the 1982 World Cup squad in Spain. |
