The Trans-Atlantic Challenge Cup was a round-robin tournament established in 1980.
Charlie Nicholas put the Celts 1-0 up in 34 minutes. Jeff Bourne scored both goals for the Sounders.
Seattle had beaten Southampton 3-1 in their first match. Celtic were beaten 2-0 by Cosmos on the same day.
