GLASGOW CELTIC FANZINES |
|
| THE SHAMROCK Early 1960's top Older than the Celtic View, The Shamrock was printed
and sold at Celtic Park in the early 1960's by unhappy members of the
Edinburgh Shamrock CSC (now called Edinburgh and District Shamrock).
Thought to be the very first fanzine in Britain, possibly the World,
it was issued on a weekly basis and cost sixpence for about six pages.
Although unconfirmed, the fanzine ended around the mid sixties, coinciding
with Jock Stein's arrival as manager and the start of the original
9-in-a-row league championships. Could this have been the reason it
ended? Were the Shamrock malcontents just too happy to bother slagging
the board anymore? We are trying to find out more about it and will
update this info if we do. Can you add anything to the Shamrock story?
please let us know by sending us an email to info@celticprogrammesonline.com.
We have 15 copies of The Shamrock, with three different covers used
betwen them. An example of each of the different covers are clickable
below. |

FROM THE NURSERY 1991-1992 top FTN was not really a fanzine as it was made by the Celtic
Boys Club. The first issue had 20 pages, cost £1 and was sold
in December 1991. It lasted only two issues for the second and last
issue was sold more than a year later in February 1992. Printed on photocopy
standard paper, it called itself "The Official Celtic Boys Club
Magazine". |

OVER & OVER 1991-1992 top O&O was also a short lived fanzine. As far as we know, the first and last issues appeared in October 1991 and February 1992. One other issue in December 1991 brings the grand total to three. The fanzine was A4 size, printed with colour glossy covers and black and white print on the inside for 50 pence. When the first issue appeared at Celtic Park, a slight panic decended on the collectors of the day as it was numbered 21. Everyone thought that they had missed the previous 20 issues. It turned out that O&O had it's origins as a Celtic supporters club newsletter - the first 20 issues were published since October 1984 and distributed to club members. A subscription services was to be available from the start of the 92/93 season but it had disappeared by then. If you can confirm any of the info above or add anything
to it, please write to info@celticprogrammesonline.com.
If you were a member of the CSC that distributed the newsletter version
of the fanzine and are willing to sell them or provide a picture of
them, please contact us

BHOYZONE 1996-2000 top The Bhoyzone fanzine was first issued in October 1996 and continued until issue 26 in April 2000. The Editor (John Cole) of the fanzine later moved to work with Celtic and the fanzine was, for a short time, incorporated into the official Celtic match programme. Although it has been suggested by some that the mag was partly financed by Fergus McCann, this has been denied by the former editor, John Cole. In an email to us he said -
On the actual rumour about the club financing Bhoyzone -
Whatever anyone may think of Bhoyzone, it can't be denied that the group of Celtic fans that produced this fanzine felt that they were making a difference and were very proud of it.
It must be said that no evidence exists to contradict any of this. John Cole is now the Webmaster for the Official Celtic Web site. If you can add anything to this info, please write to CelticCollecotrs@hotmail.com. If you can provide a picture of any other issues (if any exist), please contact us |
