Celtic played Dunfermline at Celtic Park tonight in the
match postponed from the second week of the season and gained three points
with a 2-1 victory. Gary Hooper opened the scoring in just 6 minutes
and James Forrest added the second seven minutes later. What followed
was an all out assault on the Pars goal to improve their goal average
but despite several very close efforts and a missed Ki penalty the next
goal was scored by Dunfermline when Barrowman scored with a great finish
from the edge of the box.

Celtic's under 19's completed a double over their Manchester City counterparts with a 2-1 at Celtic Park on Monday night. MATCHDAY PROGRAMME SURVEY
Do you agree with us that the Celtic matchday programme has too many pages, is too expensive and should be made cheaper by reducing the number of pages of guff it contains? Many programme collectors do but what do you think. The guys at scotprem.com have launched a survey looking for feedback from fans on their club's matchday programmes. They have an article up on scotprem.com - www.scotprem.com and the survey can be accessed directly via this link - kwiksurveys.com.
STADE RENNAIS EUROPA LEAGUE - 03/11/2011
Celtic
beat Stade Rennais 3-1 in tonight's Europa League match at Celtic Park.
Rennes took the lead through a second minute header from Kader Mangane.
Anthony Stokes drew the Celts level on the half hour mark and then
fired Celtic into the lead on 43 minutes when he latched onto a Georgios
Samaras header to fire home. Glen Loovens did not appear for the second
half and was replaced at centre-half by 17-year-old Marcus Fraser making
his competitive debut for the First team (Fraser had already made his
debut last season in a friendly against Athletico
Balbao). Celtic were well in command when substitute Gary Hooper
rounded off an excellent performance by Celtic by scoring Celtic's
third goal on 82 minutes. Come on Lennie! Programme,
ticket and match stats here.
OCTOBER 2011
STADE RENNAIS EUROPA LEAGUE - 20/10/2011
A headed goal from Joe Ledley in tonight's Europa League match in France earned Celtic their first away point in Group I. Ledley's goal equalised a Cha Du Ri own goal scored in a passback mix up with Forster in goal. Rennes issued a free match programme for their first ever match with Celtic but it 'sold' out quickly and appears to have been difficult to find. Click this to see the programme, ticket and match stats.
SEPTEMBER 2011
UDINESE CALCIO EUROPA LEAGUE - 29/09/2011
Udinese scraped a 1-1 draw in the Europa League group
match at Celtic Park tonight. A dubious penalty awarded two minutes
from full time by Turkish referee Bülent Yildirim allowed the
Italian Serie A team to cancel out Celtic's 1-0 lead. KI Sung Yeung
put Celtic ahead from the spot in the 3rd minute and it looked like
they would take all three points until Udinese defender Neuton dived
in the box as if shot by a sniper in the crowd and the referee, who
had looked indecisive all night, fell for it and awarded the Italians
a penalty. Abdi converted the spot kick and Celtic had to settle for
a single point. Programme,
ticket and match stats here.
ROSS COUNTY SCOTTISH COMMUNITIES LEAGUE CUP - 21/09/2011
Celtic made it through to the quarter-final of the Scottish
Communities League Cup by beating Ross County 2-0 at Victoria Park
tonight. It was the first time ever that Celtic had played County in
a competitive match in Dingwall and Gary Hooper wasted little time
by scoring the first in the 14th minute with a simple tap in from a
corner kick. Celtic's second was an o.g. scored by County's right-back
Scott Boyd early in the second-half. One other point of note was young
Paul George making his first-team debut in the hoops. Programme,
ticket and match stats here.
THE CELT ISSUE 125 - 19/09/2011
The
Autumn issue of cult Celtic fanzine The
Celt is out. Issue 125 pictures john Thompson on the
front cover in recognition of the 80th anniversary of his death in
September 1931. The Celtic goalie was fataly injured in an accidental
collision with Sam English, a young Centre forward with Rangers. He
stopped Rangers from scoring but suffered a depressed fracture of the
skull doing it and never regained consciousness. According to the article
in The Celt, Thomson's last words were to Sam English when he missed
a header - "Hard lines, young fellow".
The subscription only fanzine is the oldest of Celtic fanzines still in publication and celebrates it's 28th year in print this season. Click this link to see the current issue or this for every issue since 1983.

Celtic were beaten 4-2 at Ibrox today. The hoops were 2-1 up at half-time after Rangers scored first. Rangers equalised 10 minutes into the second-half and Celtic were unlucky at 2-2 when Glenn Loovens thudded a header from a Mulgrew corner off of McGregor's right post and back into play with no takers. Shortly after that Lafferty put them ahead and Charlie Mulgrew was sent off for a second yellow. The game was over as a contest when Rangers scored their fourth in injury time. Match stats, programme and ticket.

Celtic
returned to SPL action today with a 4-0 win over Motherwell at Celtic
Park. James Forest scored the first and last goal in a man of the match
performance and Joe Ledley and Ki Sung-Yeung scored the others in an
surprisingly easy victory.
Morrocan Badr El Kaddouri started at left-back and played well on his debut as did Mohamed Bangura who replaced Anthony Stokes in the 69th minute to play his first match in the famous green and white hoops. The win let Celtic leapfrog Motherwell in to second place in the league, one point behind Rangers who, if Ibrox is still open for business, are Celtic's opponents next Sunday.

THE OFFICIAL CELTIC GUIDE 2011-2012 THE WEE GREEN BOOK - 27/07/2012
The
Official Celtic Guide or Wee Green Book is as old as the Club itself.
But in 2001, in a decision equaled only when Lou Macari told Shay Given
that he was too wee to make a goalkeeper, the Club decided to end its
publication - not enough money in it for them. Now it's back, twice
as big and twice as thick with 228 pages of Club information. For just
£4 you get profiles of each team in the SPL, Celtic first-team
player profiles, the appearances and goals for every Celtic player
that has ever played for the first team, a 2010/11 season review and
a celtic history timeline. As expected in a book of this kind it contains
loads of stats like celtic's league positions season by season, our
record against every league team and the games played in European competions,
the Scottish Cup and League Cup and much more. If you want to get yourself
a copy, you can buy it in any Celtic shop or online at www.celticfc.net.

ALFREDO DI STEFANO TESTIMONIAL - 07/06/1967
Collectors
of Celtic programmes will be able to rhyme off a list of matches where,
disappointingly, no programme was issued. This leaves a gap in any
collection that the serious collector craves to fill. Two of the programmes
near the top of anyones list would be the 1970 European Cup Final v
Feyenoord and the Alfredo Di Stefano testimonial that Celtic played
in as European Champions against Real Madrid in 1967.
Recently, a collector decided to do something about these missing issues while, at the same time, making some money for charity and himself when he created an excellent limited edition issue for the 1970 European Cup final. After the success of that one he has now created a limited edition (100) programme for the Di Stefano testimonial and is selling them on ebay. The high-quality programme has 16 pages and comes with a free £10.00 bet with McBooke, a copy of the original match ticket and an insert with details of the game itself. For each copy sold, 15% of the sale price will be given to the Williams Syndrome charity.
Click here to see the programme for sale on ebay. You can also make an offer by emailing John Paul on jpaird@sky.com.

of publication and is the oldest magazine of its kind in the Britain.
The price remains the same as last season at £2.25 and contains
all the news about what is happening in the Celtic World including
a tribute to Celtic Legend Willie Fernie who sadly passed away last
week at the age of 82. Willie is best remembered for scoring in the
historic 7-1 defeat of 666FC in the 1957 Scottish League Cup final
but he also made 317 appearances in the hoops, scoring 74 times. Click
here to see the Celtic View Issue 1.

Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew both scored to give Celtic a 2-0 victory

The Tokyo CSC has just launched a charity auction of Celtic
memorabilia aimed at raising funds for the Japan disaster recovery
effort. Although the media attention may have moved on, with some 25,000
dead or missing and 115,000 homeless, the need for help has never been
greater. Every dollar raised from the auction will go to help the All
Hands Volunteers Project Tohoku, which is putting volunteers directly
into the devastated tsunami-hit areas.
