.UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW - 28/08/08

The Champions League draw was made today at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Celtic have been drawn in Group E along with holders Manchester United, Villarreal CF and Aalborg BK of Denmark. Celtic begin with a home match against Aalborg on Wednesday 17 September and Man Utd play host to our friends Villarreal from Spain on the same night. Rangers weren't in the draw. Celtic played against Manchester United at this stage two years ago with a 2-3 defeat at Old Trafford and a 1-0 win at Celtic Park. Click this to see the stats for the Manchester Utd matches. The hOOps have never played either of their other two opponents in the Champions League but were knocked out of the UEFA Cup in 2005 by Villarreal after a 1-1 draw at home and a 0-2 defeat at El Madrigal. .RANGERS GLASGOW CUP FINAL - 07/08/08

Celtic Under 19's beat Billy Kirkwood's Rangers youth team in the Glasgow Cup Final tonight at Broadwood Stadium. The Final was held over from last season because of fixture congestion. The young hOOps won 3-1 with goals from James Keetings 15, Richie Towell 17 and James Forrest in 21 minutes to kill the match early on. No programme issued for the match.

.CELTIC VIEW ISSUE 1 - 09/07/08

The first issue of this season's Celtc View is out. Stephen McManus sporting the new gold Celtic away strip is on the front cover. Inside, Paddy McCourt tells us about his first pre-season with the Scottish champions, we hear how new youth coach Chris McCart was hand-picked by TB to carry on his work in the Youth Academy and Tony Roper is interviewed about his new play "The Celts in Seville" that kicks off on August 18 at the Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow. Two things to be thankful for in this issue - the price remains at £2.25 and the lack of anything about the Celtic Ladies team. .CELTIC SIGN MCCOURT - 19/06/08

Celtic have signed Northern Ireland winger Pat McCourt from Derry City. The fee for the 24 year old is rumoured to be £200,000 and two friendly matches against Celtic in Ireland. Celtic fan McCourt said " There was interest from a few clubs but as soon as I found out that Celtic were in for me, my mind was made up. I have always been a Celtic supporter." .FEYENOORD JUBILLE TOURNAMENT - 10/06/08

Feyenoord reach their centenary year in the coming season and Celtic, Totenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund have been invited to play in a 4-team soccer tournament as part of the celebrations. Celtic played the dutch club in the final of the 1970 European Cup, losing in extra-time to a Feyenoord team that included former Celtic manager Wim Jansen. The Feyenoord official Web site said "This year Feyenoord Rotterdam celebrates its centenary. And what better way to commemorate a century of top class football than to relive some of the highlights of the club’s history together with some of the biggest teams in European club football? " Celtic play Spurs then Feyenoord and Gordon Strachan said "the tournament will be a great test for us ... It will also provide us with competitive football at an important time of the year." .ALTERNATIVE VIEW ISSUE 69 - 31/05/08

A Champions Special Edition of the excellent Celtic fanzine Alternative View was issued today. The front cover has Celtic captain Stephen McManus proudly holding our SPL trophy that Rangers were supposed to win as part of their fantasy quadruple. Inside, we read how It all went wrong for the Scottish football establishment when the hOOped heroes went to Tannadice and the helicopter followed. Legend Tommy Burns is remembered for the great Celt that he was. If there's a better way for Celtic fans to spend £1, we don't know about it. Click this to see the Alt View cover.

.PHIL O'DONNELL TRIBUTE MATCH - 25/05/08

A Celtic Legends team played a Motherwell Legends team on Sunday 25 May as a tribute to Phil O'Donnell, who died playing for Motherwell earlier this season. The championship winning squad of 1997/98 represented Celtic and Motherwell had their Scottish Cup winning squad from 1991. It was a fitting pairing as 'Uncle Phil' played in both. 60,000 fans crammed into Celtic Park to watch the match that was won 5-1 by the Celtic team - understandable considering the age differences in the squads. .CELTIC ARE THE SPL CHAMPIONS - 22/05/08

Say hello to 3-in-a-row. After the traumatic week for everybody connected to Celtic legend Tommy Burns, the team he helped build went to Tannadice and made Rangers' 2-0 defeat at Pittodrie irrelevant by beating Dundee United 1-0. Gordon Strachan has now seen off Alex McLeish, the Paul Le Guen revolution and Walter Smith to become the first Celtic manager since the immortal Jock Stein to win 3 championships in a row and, he did it while qualyfying for the last 16 of the Champions League - TWICE!
